Talliki Vandanam:
Inspired by a programme in an Indonesian school, the AP State government will launch a new initiative named, ‘Talliki vandanam’ shortly. The programme will be organised in all schools and colleges across the State as a tribute to mothers.
Addressing the valedictory of the NPW at Pavitra Sangamam near here on Sunday, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the government would organise the programme on an auspicious day. All mothers would be invited to schools so that their children could wash their feet.
“In countries like Indonesia and Finland, children honour their mothers on a designated day. If something is good, we should emulate it,” he said.Mr. Naidu said the State would witness development only when women were respected. Respecting women was a tradition of this land, he said.
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, AP Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, AP Legislative Council Chairman A. Chakrapani, TS Assembly Speaker K. Madhusudhana Chary, TS Legislative Council Chairman Swami Goud, and classical dancer Sonal Mansingh were among those present
